What’s Up Wednesday – September 2023 Edition

Hey everyone! I am back after a little hiatus to link up again with Shay and Sheaffer for What’s Up Wednesday. I am sharing a little bit of everything that has been going on for the past month. It has been the craziest couple of months and I can’t believe we are in September and almost October. Like I said it’s been a whirlwind over here – so let’s get into what has been going on in my life for the last month….

Sheaffer Told Me To What's Up Wednesday

What’s Up Wednesday

What‘s Up With Our Meal Plan….

We have been doing really well with our meal planning and not eating out nearly as much as we were during the chaotic summer months. With the kids back to school and our routine having changed a bit, we have been relying on our crockpot yet again at least a couple times a week.

Here’s the menu:
Sunday: Chicken Bites and Fries
Monday: Crockpot Mississippi Roast
Tuesday: Chicken Quesadillas with Yellow Rice
Wednesday: Crockpot Chili Mac (see pic)
Thursday: Pollo Guisada with White Rice
Friday: Make Your Own Pizza Night
Saturday: Dijon Pork Chops, Roasted Red Potatoes and Broccoli

I did just post some amazing recipes to help with the back to school chaos. You can check that out here.

What We’ve Been Up ToBIG CHANGES

August was the busiest month, which is why I didn’t get a chance to post a WUW for August. I hinted to some huge changes in my last WUW – well – we MOVED. Out of state, out of the place we called home for the last 13 years. It was time. My kids are thrilled, we are thrilled. It’s a very, very welcome change. We are close to our family, close to the beach….and I could not love our new house more. It’s been an adjustment as we wait for some new furniture to arrive (living near the beach now, my whole design/vibe for the house is completely different than it was when we lived in PA). So while we wait for things to arrive there are some bare spots in the house, but we are still gloriously enjoying our new house and new neighborhood.

What I’ve Been Loving

There’s so many. I am loving setting up my new house – I’ve been ordering wayyyy too many things on Amazon. It has been amazing seeing my kids make new friends in our neighborhood. In our old neighborhood there were absolutely no kids their age – so they are in their glory. With this move we’ve been spending more time with my family & seeing my dad more often which has been amazing. The neighborhood we live in now is very dog friendly and extremely walkable so I’ve been loving going for walks & spending time in the pool with kids. I’ve been trying to take the time to relax & soak it all in.

What I’m Reminiscing About

I have been thinking a lot about the place we have called home for the last 13 years. Hubby and I have moved a lot – NY to VA then to PA. Our kids were born in PA. We have a ton of favorite restaurants and good people we will miss. So I’ve been reminiscing about the last 13 years – but in a good way, not in a sad way. I’m grateful for the people we’ve met & can call my friends, I’m grateful for the memories we’ve made…but I am so excited we moved. We are learning new spots to eat, places to shop, and the lay out of the area we live in.

The house we moved into is a much bigger, brand new home – with so many features that I didn’t have in PA (ie: a dishwasher). We are close to the beach and a lot of different attractions so that has been amazing. This is something I have been longing for. A change I have been needing and although I will miss a lot about PA – I am so looking forward to making new memories, meeting new people and decorating the heck out of my new home.

What I’m Dreading

Nothing really. I dreaded the packing/unpacking and moving part but we are past that now. We’re so happy to be getting settled & like I said we are waiting on some furniture but I am patient and expected when I bought it that it would be a little bit before it could be delivered.

What I’ve Been Working On

Getting back into the swing of a regular routine. Our routine is going to be very different than it was. My husband and I both have different jobs so I will not be working from home any longer. I have been so preoccupied with organizing, moving, packing and unpacking that honestly my blog has taken a hit. I have posted some things since we moved but I need to get back on a schedule.

What I’m Excited About

I’m really excited about living in a community with a ton of kids. They have community events like ice cream socials and movie nights on the golf course and a trick or treat parade. I am so excited about decorating. We waited until we moved in to really get a feel for what kind of furniture we want to buy and now I’ve been adding to cart a TON. Probably too much. I’m also excited that we have a walk in pantry. My old house did not have a pantry so we were limited with space when we bought in bulk…now….I can go to the store and not have to worry where I’m putting things.

What I’m Watching

This past month we went to the movies a lot. My husband and I saw The Nun 2, which I did not like as much as the 1st one. We also saw Sound of Freedom – I cried. It was hard to watch – but with two daughters, I felt like I needed to see it. We also watched Insidious: The Red Door – I did not like that one either.

The last movie we saw was Equalizer 3. I am a HUGE fan of Denzel. I loved the Equalizer 1 & 2 and this one was just as good. I think that movie was the only one we saw this month that I will probably watch again.

Apart from movies – we have been watching a lot of football. My husband is a Jets fan and was devastated when Aaron Rodgers tore his ACL. So it’s been a sad football season but we watch nonetheless.

What I’m Reading

I have a confession. I have not picked up a book since July. It’s terrible and I keep thinking I need to get my book out and get back into it but since we moved and everything was in boxes, honestly the last thing we unpacked was books.

What I’m Listening To

TV and whatever music is on in the background. I have been driving a lot so Sirius XM radio has been on – Top Hots, 90’s and 80’s stations are my top 3 I listen to.

What I’m Wearing

It’s finally sweater weather – so I have broken out my sweaters, cardigans, sweater jackets and I couldn’t be happier. Most of my sweaters are from Target, Old Navy, Walmart and TJ Maxx.

What I’m Doing This Weekend

This weekend the rest of my furniture is coming and I am SOOOOO excited. My vision is coming together and I feel like my house will be more like our home once it is fully decorated. Other than that typical weekend chores, shopping and probably haircuts for my kids.

What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month

My daughter turns 12 in October so I am excited to celebrate her. Some of our family will be coming in to stay and celebrate so we are looking forward to that. Besides that I am looking forward to Halloween. The community we live in does a Trick or Treat parade and they have some fun activities for the kids so we are excited to be involved.

What Else Is Up?

Not much else….I feel like it’s been a lot. Trying to find our new normal and establish a new routine which has been challenging because our schedules keep changing.

That’s about it for this What’s Up Wednesday in the month of September. I hope you enjoyed this What’s Up Wednesday link up on my blog today. If you are new here, welcome!! I’m glad to have you and I hope you follow along!

Talk to you guys soon!
