What I’ve Been Loving

All of the time we have been spending outdoors lately.

What We’ve Been Up To

Soccer, lots of park days, hiking, spring concerts and art shows for school. We are so close to the finish line for school and everyone is excited for summer break. My youngest daughter finally got the cast off of her arm so she has slowly started back up with soccer again.

What I’m Reminiscing About

So many cute memories keep popping up on my Fb page making me feel nostalgic (see pics above & below). Especially when my daughters were little and wore adorable dresses I picked out. Now they have their own sense of fashion which does not include anything frilly, girly or close to anything they used to wear. Which is good – I encourage their individual styles, but makes it hard when trying to argue about what is considered “dressing up” for special occasions like a spring concert. It was definitely a lot easier when they were smaller. Any moms of pre-teens/tweens, I know you understand my pain. Haha.

What I’m Dreading
Well, I found out on Mother’s Day that I am going to be a snake grandmother. My daughter has 2 corn snakes that we were told were both females, but apparently they are not. So we went to a local exotic pet store and owner really helped my daughter with what to do. He gave her everything she needs to have healthy snake babies – including an incubator for the eggs.

No, we’re not keeping the snakes, the man was nice enough to tell her that he will buy them off of her when they hatch. So we have that going on – and although it’s my daughter’s responsibility – I am dreading having lots of baby snakes in my house.

What I’ve Been Working On
A lot of new content for my blog and planning on making some videos for my YouTube channel. I have also been working on setting up my new planner that starts in July.

What I’m Excited About
I am excited for school to be done for the kids & having a lot more freedom in terms of plans & being able to do fun things. We are planning visits to family out of state this summer as well.

What I’m Watching/Reading

We are almost done with Season 3 of Ted Lasso – last episode is today. It’s been so good – this show is seriously something I can rewatch over and not get tired of it. I think this will be the last season, and I am pretty bummed about it.

We also found The Night Agent on Netflix which we binge watched on a couple of rainy nights. It was really good – if you like CIA/FBI/crime drama and a lot of plot twists, definitely check it out.

This month we also watched White Men Can’t Jump. I liked the original movie with Wesley Snipes so we wanted to see what the remake was all about. It was good, definitely had funny moments.

Another movie we watched was the Pope’s Exorcist. If you like scary movies, this was a good one. Russel Crowe is in it and I have to say it was pretty good.

As far as books go, I am still reading It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover. Truthfully I have not picked it up at all this past month. I need to figure it into my routine, even if it’s a couple of pages a day. When decluttering my closet I found Nine Rooms of Happiness by Lucy Danziger and Catherine Birndorf. I read that a while back but felt nostalgic when I found it and would like to read it again – but I definitely want to finish It Ends With Us first.

What I’m Listening To
We’ve been playing a lot of Pandora music for our Bluetooth speakers in the back yard. Mostly whatever the kids want to listen to – usually today’s hits. Still have not found a pod cast I like – leave a comment below with some suggestions.

What I’m Wearing
What’s up to the warmer weather! It’s been hot enough to whip out the shorts, so I have been wearing shorts I bought from Old Navy. I love their chino shorts – they come in different lengths perfect for work and casual wear. I usually wear basic t-shirts with them and pair with a jean jacket towards the evening. Pretty simple. I am not a dress person, which is probably another reason my kids have decided they don’t want to wear dresses either. So, unless I am going to a wedding or somewhere ultra-fancy – summer dresses are not a thing for me.

What I’m Doing This Weekend

This past weekend (aka Memorial Day weekend) we went hiking, fishing, had friends over, went to the park, played board games – it was amazing. We had no soccer this weekend and were just able to enjoy ourselves with no time constraints. Next weekend it’s back to the grind and this will be the first weekend my youngest is able to play soccer since she broke her arm.

What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month
The end of the school year & the official start to summer. More fishing, hiking, outdoor picnics, and relaxation. My daughter got awarded with tickets to a local minor league baseball team for academic excellence so we will be attending that towards the end of the June.

What Else Is New
We got another dog. Well technically, we adopted her. We fostered her for 2 weeks back in February for a friend while they were finding new housing. My kids and other animals got along really well with her but it was temporary then. Towards the middle of May our friend who owned her could no longer keep her long-term and asked if we would adopt her.

She is a pit bull, so I knew that she would end up in a shelter if we didn’t take her in. So we opened our home to her and she has been settling in perfectly with the family. She’s a really good dog. It’s unfortunate that pit bulls have such a bad rap. She’s sweet, loving and so good with my kids, our chocolate lab Bailey – and even my cats. She loves to snuggle with humans or other fur babies.

That’s about it for the month of May. I hope you enjoyed this What’s Up Wednesday link up on my blog today. If you are new here, welcome!! I’m glad to have you and I hope you follow along!

Talk to you guys soon!

    1. Thanks! I’m not a huge reader but I have to make myself. Let me know what you think of the Night Agent – I’m hoping there’s a second season. Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Did you also watch The Diplomat? Super good..that’s what led me to The Night Agent!

Snake babies sounds like the worst thing in the entire world. My condolences on that.

    1. I have not – but I will put it in my queue – thanks! Snake babies are definitely not ideal – I feel like I have a biology experiment going on in my house. Thankfully the guy is going to take them right when they are about to hatch because I am very nervous about it and don’t want any babies hurt in the process (even if they are snakes, ya know?). That way I don’t have to see them – and bonus my daughter doesn’t get attached lol. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. You are very brave for having snakes, I can’t believe you’ll be a snake grandma! I feel like I’ve heard of that happening with gerbils/rabbits, but never snakes. I still need to start Ted Lasso, I kept forgetting the new season was out. Enjoy your summer!

    1. They’re not bad – just corn snakes. My daughter does all the work for them otherwise she would not have gotten them. She loves all kinds of animals and that was her bday present a while back. The season was so good – watched the last episode last night and cried. Enjoy your summer as well – thanks for stopping by!

    1. I have heard so much about her and all of her books so I will be reading more….just at a snail’s pace haha. Thanks for stopping by!
