Walmart Grocery Haul & Meal Plan

I have a budget friendly Walmart grocery haul coming at you this week! I usually give myself $125 a week to feed my husband, two daughters and I but this week I needed to stretch the budget a bit.

I typically grocery shop at ALDI first for produce, and see what they have in terms of bread, meats and canned goods as well and then I will go to Walmart or another local grocery store in my area (or do an instacart order for pick up). However, it has been a busy week and I am a little off my grocery game (we came home late Sunday night from Hershey, where we celebrated my daughter’s 9th birthday). I also have been working until 6pm almost every night. As a result, Wednesday was my only opportunity to go (Sunday is my usual shopping day) and I only had enough energy for one store, so Walmart it was!

This is a little more than a typical week’s groceries for us because we needed to replenish some meat and pantry items. I figured I would share my menu for the next week as well as my grocery haul. Again, this is for 4 people so adjust as needed!

Grocery Budget – My Total

As you can see I spent $182 (plus tax) for this week’s groceries mostly because much of the things I bought will last for more than a week (think soda, potatoes, condiments and snacks). For extra savings, I upload my receipts onto the FETCH rewards app on my phone. This is a great program because you get rewards (that can be redeemed for gift cards) for shopping for things you already buy! You can sign up with this link, you’ll get $2 in Rewards when you snap your first receipt: https://fetchrewards.onelink.me/vvv3/referraltext?code=1TCXK For this haul I received 184 points, which is great in my opinion. With the rewards I have saved up, I plan on using them for gift card purchases for Christmas gifts. It’s a fantastic FREE way to get rewarded for everyday tasks.

THIS WEEK’S MEAL PLAN

On the menu this week are a lot of old favorites and one new recipe to me, which I will be bringing to you guys later in the week. I didn’t want a crazy difficult meal plan this week as I know it will be another busy week with some late nights.

Thursday 10/8/20 – Chicken Quesadillas

Friday 10/9/20 – Crockpot Chicken Cacciatore (Recipe to come!)

Saturday 10/10/20Carne Guisada with White Rice

Sunday 10/11/20Meatloaf with Mashed Potatoes

Monday 10/12/20 – Crockpot Pork Ribs with Yellow Rice

Tuesday 10/13/20 – Tacos

Wednesday 10/14/20 – Chicken Piccatta with Rice and Salad

Thursday 10/15/20 – Spaghetti & Meatballs

Friday 10/16/20 – Pizza

Saturday 10/17/20 – Crockpot Beef Stew

Having this meal plan extend past one week will let me reset for my usual grocery shopping on Sundays. It will feel great to get back into my normal routine since we got off of it for a while. Next month I hope to get back into my monthly meal planning which really helps keep my grocery budget under control. What’s your meal plan for the week?
