Life Lately – October 2023

Hey everyone! I am back again to link up with Shay and Sheaffer for their What’s Up Wednesday. I am sharing a little bit of everything that has been going on for the past month. So here is a little peek into my life lately as of October…

Sheaffer Told Me To What's Up Wednesday

Life Lately – What’s Up Wednesday

What‘s Up With Our Meal Plan….

We have been doing great with not ordering take out but maybe once a week. Our crockpot has been getting quite the workout which is not unusual on busy weeknights.

Our Menu This Week:
Sunday: Chicken Piccata
Monday: Steak Tacos (See pic)
Tuesday: Baked Spaghetti (see pic)
Wednesday: Crockpot Chicken Alfredo
Thursday: Crockpot Chicken Fajitas
Friday: Crockpot Chicken Taco Soup
Saturday: Pizza at my Dad’s

My husband and I take turns with the cooking based off of our schedules as some days I am home earlier than he is and vice versa. Full credit to him for the delicious steak tacos. I did a post not that long ago about some amazing recipes to help with the weeknight chaos. You can check that out here.

Our Life LatelyWhat We’ve Been Up To

October was another whirlwind. Our oldest daughter turned 12. We had a party for her at our house and had some family travel in from NY for it – it was really nice. My husband and I have been working a lot and when we’ve not working, we’re adventuring with the girls or setting up/building furniture. Here are a few pictures of what we’ve been up to:

We went to an apple orchard/farm that had highland cows and a bunch of other animals you could feed and interact with. I love cows and had no idea they ate apples so that was interesting. The girls enjoyed feeding and petting them.

My daughter requested to do go karts for her birthday. On the Sunday after her party, we headed to the beach and went on some go-karts. Here in the pic you can see my husband, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law and my youngest all ready to ride. It was so much fun. We couldn’t stop laughing.

After go-karting we got some burger’s and shakes from Hammy’s Burger & Shakes in Rehoboth. It was good. The girls loved their Oreo shakes.

I also took the girls to get hair cuts which they were happy with. It’s been fun but nerve-wracking trying to find new “regular” spots for things. But they loved being pampered.

Aside from that it has been a whole lot of furniture building and decorating – trying to get our house looking the way we want it.

What I’ve Been Loving

The sunsets here are beyond my favorite. The pictures don’t even do it justice. I find myself outside on the deck admiring the sunset almost every single night. It’s breathtaking. The weather has been perfect 50s-60s. While the weather is still nice we have been going for walks and playing soccer outside.

What I’m Reminiscing About In My Life Lately

Not a whole lot lately.

What I’m Dreading In My Life Lately

I can’t really think of anything I’m dreading. I would probably say the bitter cold that comes with winter. I am hoping it is a little more mild here than in PA…but stay tuned.

What I’ve Been Working On

Trying to get into a routine and staying consistent. I said that last time and I think just now I feel like I have more of a routine going. We’ve both started working and things have been going well. I am trying to schedule time to dedicate to my blog posts, I just have to stick to it.

What I’m Excited About in My Life Lately

I’m really excited for Halloween. This will be the first time in several years we will get trick or treaters. We are fully stocked with candy, we decorated our house a little bit and it should be a fun day/night. I’m also excited that this time of year is the beginning of the holiday season. 2 months from today is Christmas….which is absolutely insane to think about.

Thankfully the majority of our furniture has arrived. After it got here my husband and I realized we probably need 2 more chairs for our living area, but the main pieces are here. I still have to pick out two rugs and curtains and some other pieces for upstairs but I am being picky about colors. It’s been a process but I am loving how it’s coming together. I will definitely share pics when it’s all done. For now, I will share a pic of my entertainment unit/fireplace we bought for the living area. It’s from Home Depot – I like the fact that it lights up in different colors. So far I am liking it but feeling like it might be too small – I don’t know – what do you guys think?

What I’m Watching

October is all about the Halloween movies. Old ones, new ones – it doesn’t matter. Practical Magic, Annabelle, Hocus Pocus 1 & 2, Saw X, Halloween, Scream, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloweentown – we’ve watched a lot of Halloween/scary movies this month. Some with the kids, others without. A lot of these movies we’ve seen already but it’s hard to resist a scary movie this time of year.

Apart from movies – I have been watching To Catch A Smuggler on Discovery Channel a lot. I am not even really sure why other than I find some of it fascinating.

What I’m Reading In My Life Lately

I have been in a reading rut since July but I forced myself to look for a book that was fun & light hearted. I saw that The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams got good reviews for being an easy read and although I did not finish it yet, I at least started it and so far it is good.

What I’m Listening To

Right now I am listening to Sports Center in the background because my husband is watching tv as I work on this post. TV and whatever music is on in the background. I have been driving a lot so Sirius XM radio has been on – Top Hots, 90’s and 80’s stations are my top 3 I listen to.

What I’m Wearing

It’s finally sweater weather – so I have broken out my sweaters, cardigans, sweater jackets and I couldn’t be happier. Most of my sweaters (and most of my clothes) are from Target, Old Navy, Walmart and TJ Maxx.

What I’m Doing This Weekend

This weekend we are going to my dad’s for dinner and having a board game night with him. We need to finish up Halloween costume shopping (a little late, I know). Other than that, probably shopping & chores and resetting for the week.

What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month

We are smack in the middle of the holiday season. November means Thanksgiving – and I am looking forward to Thanksgiving. I am not quite sure yet what we will be doing for the holidays – if we are hosting Thanksgiving or Christmas. Either way I will be spending time with family and I am looking forward to that. It’s a busy but fun time of year.

That’s about it for Life Lately in October. I hope you enjoyed this link up on my blog today. Let me know what you have been up to this past month! If you are new here, welcome!! I’m glad to have you and I hope you follow along!

Talk to you guys soon!
