What I’ve Been Loving

I’ve been loving all of the time we have been spending outdoors lately and seeing friends and family. Kind of random – but I also have been obsessed with OxiClean lately. Have white sneakers? Soak them in water with OxiClean overnight – I’m telling you they look brand new. I did that for my daughter’s sneakers and you’d swear I just bought them. It works for non-white sneakers too. I was impressed.

What We’ve Been Up To

We finished up soccer games in the middle of June. My youngest, Kylie, was able to move up to U12 and play with her sister Mackenzie for 3 games and that was so awesome to see. They have fun playing together. At Kylie’s last game of the season on her U10 team, the only game she was able to play with her team since breaking her arm, Kylie was able to score 4 goals. It was a victorious end to the season.

Last Friday we went to a Triple A baseball game. Kylie received a student MVP award from her teacher and was picked to be honored at the game. Even though there was a rain delay, it was really nice. My brother, sister-in-law and their kids met us there and it was a lot of fun. Because of the rain we got free tickets to another game – so that was a bonus!

More of What We’ve Been Up To..

On Father’s Day we went fishing and Kylie caught a catfish. This is the first time she caught a catfish, so she was really excited. My husband also caught a large mouth bass and was thrilled with that.

Mackenzie, my oldest, is attending a Women In Science and Engineering camp through Penn State this week. So far she is really enjoying it. She loves science and was recommended by her teachers to attend this camp.

What I’m Reminiscing About

Not really reminiscing about much lately. Trying to practice mindfulness and be present in the moments as they happen. I really want to soak up and enjoy the summer. It’s becoming more and more evident I only have a few summers left with my girls before they’re in high school and have avid social lives – so I’m trying to soak up every single moment.

What I’m Dreading

Having a yard sale. We recently went through our basement and gathered things together for a yard sale. I have never hosted a yard sale and I am stressing about it. I am hoping that this weekend will be good to have it, but I am in panic mode. I have no idea why. I keep thinking about pricing and what if I don’t have enough change. I have planned for it and researched it so I don’t know why I’m still nervous. New territory I guess. Meanwhile my husband thinks I’m crazy and is so excited to get rid of some of our stuff. I am too, I’m just also overthinking everything.

What I’ve Been Working On

Trying to maintain my sanity. Lol no – well, maybe. Making new content for the blog, including a Summer Essentials post, as well as back to filming again for YouTube. I posted my planner set up and a plan with me. I’m trying to keep a good schedule for all the things. Kids, work, blog, YouTube, family, vacations – you name it. It’s all a work in progress.

What I’m Excited About

We have vacation coming up in July and we’re excited. The beach is my happy place and I am excited to see my dad. He lives near the beach so we go down and stay with him and the kids have an amazing time. We are planning a visit to family in Boston and NYC this summer as well.

What I’m Watching

We went to the movies…a lot this month. We saw The Little Mermaid – it was good. I am not a huge fan of live action Disney films, but we enjoyed the movie.

We also saw Fast X – it was ok, but the ending was annoying. If you’ve seen it, then you know what I’m talking about.

My kids wanted to see The Flash – so we saw that and I thought it was good. Had some OG cameos in it which was cool.

We also saw Elemental which is a really cute kids movie with a great underlying theme – we all loved it.

For date night, my husband and I went to see About My Father as well. I love Robert DeNiro and this was light hearted and funny. We laughed a lot.

What I’m Reading

For reading, this month I finished It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover. It took me a while to pick it back up after I started it – but once I picked it back up – I could not put it down and finished it in 2 days. It was really good – heart wrenching, but good. Now I think I am going to read Spare by Prince Harry. I bought it back in April or March I believe and I like reading about the royal family, so I’m hoping it’s a quick read. I am also bringing I Owe You One by Sophie Kinsella to the beach with me. I love her books and have not read this one yet.

What I’m Listening To

I have been watching and listening to the news a lot more lately. I always watch it for a little while everyday, but recently I have been watching it more. We’re still playing a lot of Pandora music in the back yard.

What I’m Wearing

Still rocking the chino shorts from Old Navy. Still rocking the jean jacket too. Old Navy has always been a favorite place for clothes for me. As far as shoes go, my summer shoe attire consists mostly of Sperry’s with an occasional sandal. Mostly Sperry’s though – in pretty much every color they have. It’s a problem.

What I’m Doing This Weekend

This coming weekend we don’t have huge plans – just the normal. Soccer games are done for now so we are soaking in the freedom and being able to do whatever, whenever on the weekends which is so nice.

What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month

Vacation, vacation, vacation! We have two vacations planned for July and I am so looking forward to it. I get to see family & spend time at the beach and just relax and have fun with the family.

I also got to start in my new planner this week. It’s a July start but the first week was for the this week so I am thrilled about that. It’s all set up and I have been patiently waiting to use it. The end of the school year & the official start to summer. More fishing, hiking, outdoor picnics, and relaxation. My daughter got awarded with tickets to a local minor league baseball team for academic excellence so we will be attending that towards the end of the June.

What Else Is New

My plants are coming along in my container garden. I have tomatoes, basil and red peppers and they are flourishing. I repotted a hydrangea I bought at Sam’s Club and am trying to nurse it back to life. Not sure if it’ll make a comeback but I have hope.

Even though we are in full summer mode my kids still do school work and have summer reading. So we’ve been making a lot of trips to Barnes and Nobles. They had to pick up their books as well as chose some fun reading for the summer. They also work in workbooks designated for going into the grade they’ll be in in September. They don’t mind it – we’ve been doing it since they were in Kindergarten and actually embrace the work, it helps keep them on a routine too.

That’s about it for this What’s Up Wednesday in the month of June. I hope you enjoyed this What’s Up Wednesday link up on my blog today. If you are new here, welcome!! I’m glad to have you and I hope you follow along!

Talk to you guys soon!

  1. I want to see The Little Mermaid with my kids, we just haven’t had a free afternoon or evening yet. It looks so good! Good luck with your yard sale! I just give everything we don’t need away on the local Buy Nothing Group. I don’t have the head space to organize a yard sale!

    1. Def go see it – I think you’re kids will love it! Thanks – I definitely will be giving a lot of it away as well. We will see, I am not looking forward to it. Thanks for the comment!

  2. We’re having pasta primavera tonight too and homemade pizzas on Friday. I hope you have a wonderful time on both your trips!

  3. I’ve added homemade pizza on naan bread to my meal plan this week now! That sounded way better than my original plan haha! Thank you

  4. What a fun post! I also have a container garden but mine doesn’t look as pretty as yours. Please post more pics of your garden 🙂

  5. Let us know how the yard sale went. I sell at the flea market and I remember the first time I did I was nervous. Once I did it turned out to be really fun and I made a nice amount of money.

  6. Oh your dinners sound so good! I have been trying to spend more time out of doors too. I mean this is the time to do it. And yes I can imagine a yard sale. When my mom passed we had to clear out the house she had lived in for over 45 years. It was a challenge to be sure.

    1. Thanks! Yeah the yard sale just seems overwhelming – I have it planned for August but I am dreading it x 10000. Thanks for stopping by!
