Sausage and Peppers in the Crockpot

It’s time for another crockpot recipe – one that is sure to be a crowd pleaser at any party – especially a Super Bowl Party.

My husband LOVES sausage and peppers – it is by far one of his favorite things to eat. I made this recipe this past week in the crockpot and he raved about it to everyone. He loved it so much he told me that I HAD to share it with you guys – so I figured, why not, I will. So here it is – my version of Sausage and peppers in the crockpot. Enjoy!

Crockpot Sausage & Peppers Recipe

Ingredients:

4 links Hot Italian all pork Sausage (I used Wegman’s brand)

2 links Mild Italian all pork sausage (Wegman’s brand)

2 bell peppers (I used red and yellow because that’s what I had on hand – you can used red, green – it doesn’t really matter)

1 small yellow onion

1 small red onion

1 24oz jar favorite Marinara Sauce (I used Wegman’s brand)

Dash of red pepper flakes

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp salt

Hoagie Rolls

1 Cup Shredded Italian Cheese blend, for serving, as desired

Instructions:

Add the Italian Sausage to the slow cooker. I used 4 links of hot and 2 mild (for my kids) but you can use all hot links if you like it spicy. Top sausage with bell peppers and onions. Sprinkle on the garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and red pepper flakes. Pour in the jar of Marinara sauce, coating all of the veggies and sausages. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high 3-4 hours.

All ready to go in the crockpot!

Toast hoagie rolls (to prevent them from getting soggy with sauce). Serve 1-2 sausages per roll (depending on liking). Top with sauce, onion and peppers. Sprinkle cheese over top (for extra goodness – throw them in a 350 degree oven and let cheese melt). Serve immediately.

Yummy, cheese-y goodness!

I hope you enjoy this recipe! Let me know in the comments if you try it out! Buen Provecho!
