My Top 5 Favorite doTERRA Essential Oils

I started using essential oils about 2 years ago when one of my friends had a party for doTERRA Essential Oils. I listened to the guest speaker and everything she had experienced with the oils, and after trying them, smelling them, I signed up to be a wellness advocate. I bought a kit (the family physicians kit – which is no longer available) because it came with quite a few oils (10 to be exact) and I have been enjoying them ever since. I really like the idea of a safe, holistic alternative to cleaning in addition to the health benefits so many of them offer. doTERRA uses Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade oils so I know that the oils I am buying are all-natural, great quality and they are not going to harm myself or my family. I am not a person that uses my oils every single day, but I do use them quite often and in my opinion, they are great. I have favorites – ones that I have used a lot of, so I thought I would share some of those with you.

Lavender – By far, my favorite essential oil is Lavender. I have loved Lavender since the Body Shop used to sell oils – I used to warm up the oils in an oil warmer in my room to help me de-stress when I was studying in high school. Lavender has so many amazing uses. I have used it on my skin and my kids skin (when they have had a rash or a bug bite), I apply it on my wrists or neck when I am having trouble sleeping or feeling anxious, it can also be diffused in the bedroom to help with sleep, or you can make bath bombs with lavender for a relaxing bath product for you or as a DIY gift. It really has a ton of uses, and it is by far my favorite smell.

Lemon – This oil smells so good and I love cleaning with it. I have a lot of wood furniture in my house and the cabinets in my kitchen are wood as well and I clean them with lemon oil. I take a microfiber cloth, put a few drops of lemon oil on it and go to town on my furniture. It makes my house smell so good and so clean. You can add it to a spray bottle with some vinegar and it makes an excellent all-purpose cleaner that is safe for babies and pets. Because doTERRA uses certified pure therapeutic grade oils, some of them can be ingested and lemon oil is one of them – and I have added lemon oil to my tea when I did not have any fresh lemon around. It tasted just like the real thing!

Peppermint – When my oldest daughter was a baby she had febrile seizures and it was such a scary experience. Peppermint oil actually helps cool the body down and we use it a lot when our girls have fevers in addition to giving them Tylenol/ibuprofen. I have suffered from migraines, and peppermint oil also helps a lot with headaches – a few drops and rub it into your temples and on your neck and it helps alleviate the headache. I have also added peppermint and wild orange oils with fractionated coconut oil to a roller and use that to help my focus and improve my energy.

DigestZen – I have used this oil to help with stomach issues for myself and my family. From nausea, diarrhea and stomach bugs, this oil helps alleviate some of those symptoms and has a delicious licorice scent.

On Guard – This is a great oil to have during cold and flu season. It is one of doTERRA’s best-selling blends, and for good reason – it protects against environmental and seasonal threats and is known for it’s positive effects on the immune system when ingested. On Guard can also be used on surfaces throughout the home as a non-toxic cleaner. I have also put it in my diffused where it helps purify the air, and can be very energizing and uplifting. It has a cinnamon-orange-clove kind of scent and I have put it in baths as a detox, and a diffuser to help purify the air and make my house smell amazing around the holidays.

If you go on doTERRA’s website, you will find tons of information about the company, their products, the different uses for oils and information regarding quality control so that they ensure that the oils they are providing are safe, non-toxic and amazing holistic alternatives for families.
