July Recap/ August 2019 Goals

Happy August! It’s time for August Goals! Summer is winding down and August is shaping up to be a very busy month. We had a nice relaxing month in July, with some changes sprinkled in. My husband started a new job so getting used to his hours has been a challenge, but in the end I think he likes it. My work had our licensing board come through so I spent a lot of time at work prepping for that. But after a relatively slow month I am looking forward to the busyness August brings. Let’s recap for July!

Goals

July Recap

  • Post 4 times on Mommy Above All. I’m really hoping to get back into a groove and provide quality posts for you guys. – Fail. Fail. Fail. I only posted twice, so that was disappointing.
  • Begin reading Turtles All The Way Down by John Green. I’ve heard a lot of amazing things about this book so I at least want to start it for July. With my track record for reading I know I probably won’t finish it, but at least get started. – I did indeed begin reading this book after taking it out at my local library. So far so good, I am liking it.
  • Start back with using the Cash Envelope system again. I was doing this before and it was working but then we moved away from it. I really want to get back to using these. – I started back using these only for a couple of items (gas & groceries).
  • Visit one state park or new lake/beach area with the family this month. – We did not get around to this which is somewhat disappointing. Between work schedule conflicts, the weather & heat – I am hoping that we will get around to this in August.

August Goals

  1. Date Night with Hubby – My mother-in-law is coming to visit next week and she usually watches the kids for us so we can go out. I am hoping for a nice dinner and movie out.
  2. Go on 2 Family Outings – Since summer is quickly drawing to a close, I am hoping to get to a state park/lake and to a zoo this month to make up for not going anywhere special last month.
  3. Get back to Church – I took a bit of a break this summer from going every Sunday and I really want to get back into the habit of attending mass as a family every Sunday.
  4. Finish Turtles All The Way Down by John Green. I am about half way so I am sure I can finish by the end of the month.
  5. Declutter – I want to get rid of at least 10 things every single week for a grand total of (at least) 40 things. I find decluttering very satisfying so this is a goal that I am looking forward to.

So that covers my goals I have for August. I am excited for this month – the kids are excited to start back in school and I am excited to get back into more of a structured busy schedule.
