Cash Envelope Categories

As you saw in this post about how I budget, I use the cash envelope system. This is a great system that helps you curb your spending and keep your budget on track without getting derailed by unexpected expenses. I am going to give you a list of over 40 different categories that you can use for this system so you can get plenty of ideas for your own envelopes because there are a ton of different options!

My cash envelopes

How specific your categories are is completely up to you. Do whatever makes the most sense for your situation. If you buy coffee out every morning, for example, it might make sense to have a “coffee” envelope. I don’t buy coffee that often, but when I do I take it out of my “personal spending” envelope. This is just one example.
